Review for 'Life's Journey from Julie

Book Review

Life’s Journey – Amanda Hume

A sometimes bittersweet, joyful and poignant wander through life, visiting a complete spectrum of emotions along the way. I enjoyed the poetry Amanda presents, her words evoking memories I had forgotten and reminding me of feelings I had buried.

There is a poem to suit every occasion hidden in these pages. Well worth a read and a re-read to make sure no treasure is missed.

Review for Life's Journey from Denise.

Life’s Journey by Amanda Hume

Poetry writer Amanda Hume made me feel as if I had been with her throughout her days and experiences. The book changes tempo, each poem varying in subject and emotion. The reason I loved this book, was because Amanda’s voice rang so clear and true. Not only does she make me see the things she sees, she makes me feel the things she feels. There’s a lot more going on than a day to day account, and Amanda tells you all about it.

Through reading Amanda’s poetry you feel like you have made a strong acquaintance and also come to an understanding of not only the way she thinks, but how she perceives both the world at large and her inner world. This is just one of the reasons you want to keep turning the pages in a Life’s Journey.

The larger theme of the book is about hope, and not giving up, staying positive no matter how hard things may seem. But cleverly wrote, Amanda never tries to lecture or make it seem like she’s teaching a lesson, it’s just simply part of her world she is describing. As found in the poem "I Wish" she describes her longing for things to get better, but not in a context of complaint of weariness, there is an underlying tone of gratitude for everything she is experiencing, be it good or bad, she sees these experiences as stepping stones in order to get her to where it is she needs to be in her next phase of life.

Various characters come into Amanda’s writing, mostly people she cherishes dearly. You get the idea that she wants the world to know how good these people were and how hard they tried to do the right thing, even though at times things were difficult. And in her poems "Mother", Granddad" and "Great Nan" you can not only feel the love and admiration she has for these people, but you can relate to it, because of the unconditional love you have for your own family and the words she uses to describe a sweet memory she has of each one of them.

A fascinating collection of poetry, where time, emotion, spirituality, personality, past, present, sickness and health are all brought together….. One could sum "Life’s Journey" up as a philosophy of life and how to live it. To know more you’ll just have to read the book!

What an experience!

After many months of deciding the route i wanted to take to publish my work, i decided to self publish. I sourced many companies for information, finally finding a publisher i felt was right.

Last week i was so grateful to be offered an opportunity to attend a Self Publishing Experience Day. I would recommend this to anyone to has an interest in books, an interest to publish, or even for the published who have not had involvement to see what happens behind the scenes.

Information was given from the long awaited completed manuscript, to advice with editing services, to copy typing leading to the final result... a book.

The day was amazing and i don't think i will ever look at a book in the same way again!

From being shown suitable paper types, setting up the printing machinery for the book pages, the cover pages, the spines of the book, and how these were so cleverly crafted together to make one amazing book.

A Wonderful Experience... I shall never forget!

In the beginning..

One morning I was captured by the many colours which were displayed to me surrounding my garden at the start of a new day and was overcome to write, to express, to explore. I have since been inspired by my friends and many people who have touched my life to express and explore positive thoughts amongst the darkest day.

'If this book helps or inspires only one person to look at the positive side of a problem, experience or dark day to make a spark of light in their world, then i have achieved my biggest wish.'

'Life's Journey' is a collection of poems relating to life experiences, thoughts and dreams that anyone may experience in their own lifes path with a positive twist to show any problem can be overcome.
